Our cotton shirts feature a silk-screen design depicting a signpost for the Erratic that is reminiscent of the historic signposts designed by Edwin Lundie along Cascade Beach Road on the North Shore of Lake Superior.
Edwin Lundie was a significant Minnesota architect during the 1920’s to the 1960’s. He designed about 17 cabins along the north shore of Lake Superior from Duluth to Grand Marais, including his own cabin in Schroeder. One of the best representations of his work is Lutsen Resort, including the resort building (RIP), covered bridge, and the signage on MN-61.

Our Story
Erratic | Coffee Basecamp started in 2023 when two friends felt like ditching their lame day jobs and running off to the woods to make coffee like little gremlins.
They decided to buy a vintage airstream travel trailer, gut it, turn it into an espresso bar + scratch bakery, and call it “the erratic.”
The Erratic is their nod to the history and tradition of outdoor living and recreation in northern Minnesota and is a contemporary expression of an adventurer’s basecamp.
There is obviously more to this story, but I’m only allowed to tinker with the website for so long today.

The Bar + Bakery
Our espresso bar will be equipped with a commercial 2-group head Synesso espresso machine and various coffee brew methods to supply customers with quality coffee and signature espresso drinks.
Our small-batch, scratch bakery will have a daily offering of cookies, bars, buns, and muffins. The Erratic will function as a laboratory for our recipe testing and we will have various surprise goodies each weekend.
